I’d read reviews of how much pain the readers felt because of this book, and I was like “wow, that’s going to happen to me”. The Fever King is a perfect example of that. But it’s more like, I know full well that it will break me, refuse to believe it, and then get surprised when it destroys me.
When it comes to books, specifically (because I could talk about how I’m self-destructive in my personal life but I’d rather not*): I love to read books that destroy me. Hi I’m May! And if you don’t know, I’m self-destructive!
